UPCOMING PROJECTS!!
We have a few project plans for the upcoming year. Jacob's Jeep - this project will be about introducing your son/daughter to the 4 wheel drive world. I will attempt to oversee a complete rebuild of a Jeep Wrangler by a 15 year old young man. The idea is to build a safe and reliable first vehicle as well as something he can trail ride with. The primary goal is to give him hands on experience with every detail of this vehicle. He may not do it perfectly but he will know how it works. After a brief search, we found a basket case 89 YJ. We towed it to the shop, unloaded the parts and determined our plan of attack. Jay sand blasted the frame, then he installed the BDS 4 1/2 inch suspension system. Next he fit the brake lines to the frame, and installed new brakes. The above processes were completed by Jay, although I did provide instruction as to the proper, as well as safe use of the equipment required to complete the job. Now comes the really hard part, dads (moms) show them how, step back and let them learn. The next up was to install the motor, unfortunately it was frozen up (junk). Well lets skip this part now and just install the body. The body tub was in worse condition than the engine. We spent some time shopping around for the right parts to get us back on track. It was about this time that I decided that the original intent of this project was to get your kids involved in a Jeep project, to learn what it takes to build a safe and fun vehicle on a reasonable budget. With the lack of good major components this project could soon turn into a very expensive Jeep project. This is not what I really had in mind, time for a rethink.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Old Trail Rider Rebuild - this project is the turquoise Jeep Cherokee on this website. This vehicle has been my daily driver and trial ride rig for the past three years. It now has many miles and is in need of some minor modifications. UPDATE: This vehicle has been sold. The turquoise XJ ,( project old trail rider) after 3 years of very satisfying service I felt that it was time to do something to the XJ. After much customer prodding and friendly harassing I thought - what's the next step? How do you improve the performance of a vehicle that has been almost perfect? I decided that it would be better to let another trailrider experience the fun this jeep can provide, It went up for sale.
